The last few weeks have been busy for team WireMasters! We traveled from Dallas, TX for AEA 2015, to Miami, FL for MRO 2015, and then to Hamburg, Germany for AIX 2015. All three shows were amazing, and our team had a wonderful time networking with industry professionals.
Our journey began at the Gaylord Texan Convention Center in Dallas, Texas for the 58th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show. The show’s attendance was at an all-time high with 1897 attendees, marking a 21% increase from the 2014 event. Avionics manufacturers, repair stations, avionics dealers and installers and other general aviation professionals were among those attendees that gathered at the four day event helping sell out the exhibit hall. WireMasters was excited to host our first Java Jumpstart at this year’s show. Friday Morning our team provided coffee and pastries to attendees and we thank each of you who came by to visit with our team and make the event a success.
During the show the AEA Association unveiled the results from the 2014 Aviation Market Report with sales exceeding $2.5 billion. WireMasters is honored to be a part an AEA Member as we continue to support the aviation industry.
The WireMasters team left Dallas and traveled to MRO Americas 2015 in Miami, FL at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Celebrating 20 years of MRO Americas, the convention was the largest to date with 15,000 attendees representing 87 countries! A primary focus at the show was new technology and its effect on the evolution of the MRO industry. As manufacturers release next generation aircraft and engines, MRO providers will have to progress with these advanced capabilities.
WireMasters team members also attended AIX 2015 in Hamburg, Germany. Focused primarily on the advancements in aircraft interiors, the show displayed various new IFE systems. Lumexis, Thales, and Rockwell Collins were among many companies to unveil their latest IFE products during the show. Lumexis released a new product called iPax, said to offer a unique passenger experience while providing significant cost and weight savings. Thales unveiled their Inflyt Experience that serves the entire passenger experience with a full IFE package. Rockwell Collins made their mark at the show with their Paves Passenger Service System, a lightweight, low-cost reading light and cabin crew call system with optional USB charging port for personal devices. The IFEC Zone portion of the show increased by 25% from 2014, and with the IFE Market continuing to expand, this trend shows no signs of abating.
It’s been an enjoyable and rewarding experience networking with other aerospace industry professionals at our recent exhibits, but for now it is back to the home office in Columbia, TN. Make sure to visit us at our next exhibit, June 15-21st at the Paris Air Show where WireMasters will be located in Hall 5—Booth B266. Can’t wait to see everyone there!
As technology continues to evolve, so does the future of air travel. As the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) takes place in Hamburg Germany this week, focused primarily on the new developments in aircraft interiors, with the majority of those enhancements geared toward In-Flight Entertainment (IFE). The IFE Zone of AIX 2015, where WireMasters is located at stand #4B10, is fully dedicated to displaying these new products and technologies.
Recent studies show the IFE market will quadruple world-wide throughout the next decade, but it’s important for suppliers and manufactures to develop the technology to assist in increasing bandwidth and data transfer rates, while keeping the products light weight.
One of the newest developments in IFE is a new product called iPAX. Built by Lumexis, who is also exhibiting at AIX 2015 Stand 4C50, the modern wireless IFE systems offer passengers a unique experience on a thin light weight HD screen located on the seat backs. Most aircraft interior products are costly, and Lumexis markets their product to be cost and weight efficient, priced at $1495 each and weighing 8.9 ounces. The new system will be released at AIX and offers valued entertainment, moving-maps, food and beverage choices, and catalog shopping. This system also carries the flight safety briefing directly to each passenger while preparing for takeoff.
Thales also unveiled their new offering, Inflyt Experience. Building their portfolio to serve the entire passenger experience with a package including; the Avant touchscreen IFE system, FlytLive’s broadband and connectivity services and maintenance and repair organization FlytCare.
Rockwell Collins is another leader making their mark at AIX 2015, as they unveiled their Paves Passenger Service System upgrade for air transport aircraft. Rockwell says “The lightweight, low-cost reading light and cabin crew call system with optional USB charging port for personal devices is a direct replacement for existing systems that are less compatible with modern in-flight entertainment (IFE) system upgrades.”
With the AIX IFE zone exhibits increasing by 25% from 2014, this event is making a tremendous impact upon the IFE market. Stop by the IFE Zone to see these updates and how the technology works live; and visit WireMasters stand #4B10! We look forward to talking wire, cable, interconnect, and IFE solutions with you!

While in Vietnam, he logged over 1,600 hours of flying time in combat as Commander of the 121st Assault Helicopter Company, S3 of the 164th Combat Aviation Group and later, as Commander of the 145th Combat Aviation Battalion.
These prestigious roles of leadership helped him have a great impact on Military Aviation. His list of medals, badges, and honors include, Parachutist, Master Army Aviator badges, Ranger Tab, Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal with V Device with Oak Leaf Cluster, and a variety of additional air medals. Major General McNair retired from active service after 32 years, and in 2004 was inducted into the Army Aviation Hall of Fame.
Major General Carl H. McNair, Jr. is a living legend and hero to the US Military and our country. Throughout his career as a soldier and citizen, he has accomplished a great deal. It was with great honor and pride we had the opportunity to meet General McNair. The WireMasters family thanks General McNair and all of our US Military for their service to our country. God Bless!
